About Me
Hi, I'm Marianne Clare Reyes. You can call me Marianne or Maan.
Third-Year Biomedical Engineering Student | The University of Texas at Austin
I'm from Sugar Land. It sounds like a magical candy heaven, but it's actually a huge suburb of Houston, Texas. It's extremely Texan but beautifully diverse at the same time. It's where my accent's from. But my name and face come from somewhere else.

"Wait, but your last name is Reyes." |
My mother and father are from the Philippines. (Still confused about my last name? Do a quick search on Spanish colonization.) I'm proudly Filipino American, and I hope my work leads me to my parents' homeland one day.

"Um, the American flag has fifty stars." |
Yes, you're correct. The American flag has fifty stars, and the Philippine flag has three stars and a sun; hence "Fifty-Three Stars and a Sun."

"So...what is this?" |
This is a place to document my thoughts on my experience as a Filipino American, an Engineering student, and more.
